ABOUT OUR UNIVERSITY
Today it is the Zrínyi Miklós National Defence University, which turns into reality the vision of Lázár Mészáros, Hungarian minister of defence during the 1848 Revolution and War of Independence, of the establishment of a single and unique training institution that conducts the education of “practical and scientific individuals”.
The specific feature of our university is proven by the fact that apart from military training, we undertake the training, preparation and further training of professional experts in the field of defence, law enforcement, and national security. Nowadays, the training and educational obligations of institutes of higher education, are designed to meet the expectations and requirements of the labour market and economy. Therefore our training was broadened by specialising in the fields of “civil” security and defence policy, defence administration, economics, and engineering.
In spite of the significant changes and quality development, our system of education has not yet achieved its final structure. In order to improve our competitiveness in the labour market, the development of conditions for life-long learning and e-learning are a top priority at our University.
Another sign of our wide range of training and education is the large variety of students, including cadets, in-service officers, as well as civilian students.
Apart from the above-described forms of training, a number of training course are also conducted at our University. These support the professional development and career of the participants, increase their knowledge of foreign languages, or that of information technology.
The training offered by our University also includes distance learning during which a large number of multimedia-based distance learning course material can be acquired through the internet and with the assistance of highly trained teaching staff.
In order to support efficient and successful training, there is a special focus on shaping and sustaining a dynamic teaching staff, on the personalised training and education of students, and on the use of modern teaching technology.
